What to expect
Your first appointment, called an Assessment Session, lasts up to one hour. This session gives you the opportunity to learn more about our services while the counsellor listens to your concerns and explores your needs. Together, you’ll decide whether Relate Birmingham and Black Country is the right option for you. If it isn’t, we’ll recommend alternative services that may better suit your situation.
If you choose to continue with counselling, we’ll guide you through the next steps. This includes gathering your details, discussing costs to ensure they’re affordable, checking availability, and starting the process.
We’re focused on making counselling simple, affordable, and effective for you.
Counselling Costs
As a charity, we aim to make counselling accessible for all. Each counselling hour costs us £55, and client contributions help recover this cost.
If you’re facing financial difficulties, speak to our appointments team about reduced-cost sessions or available bursary funding. Free counselling may also be available through Relate’s partnerships with National Benevolent Organisations.
Adult Counselling & Sex Therapy
(based on income and affordability)
Children & Young People’s Counselling
Free sessions may be available, thanks to local funding.
